Chapter 1

Hollow Bastion, 5 years later

She woke with a start and groaned, "Why do I keep having that nightmare? It's been five years already!" She took off her plum beanie and threw it on the ground next to her. It was true, she spent five years with that man who took her from her home, but she had managed to escape from him a week before and boy was it hard to get away from him. She groaned again and plopped down on the mattress that she found in the alley she was in. I'm Pretty Sad Right Now...

Earlier today, my mom got a call from my aunt that my dad's brother's mother-in-law died. I didn't know her, but I was sad. That's not why I'm sad, though. I'm sad because the wake and funeral's in Mexico and according to tradition, the wake will be tonight and the burial will be tomorrow at 1:00pm. I can't go because it's almost the end of the semester and I can't miss classes. My mom, dad and brother went though. It's just that we always travel together because we're so close, and this is my first time staying home. I'm not exactly alone, since my grandmother's here, but now I just don't feel happy anymore. I don't think I'll be as happy as I normally am until they get back.
